LED lights

LED stands for light emitting diode. These are the most popular and energy efficient light options available today. Many question about LEDs are being asked nowadays- Read on to find the answers-

A) Do LEDs actually use less electricity-

It has been found that LEDs are 50-80% or efficient than their halogen or incandescent counter parts. This means an 8-10 watt of Led bulb will give light as same as any other 50W bulb. If talk about electricity consumption, LEDs use significantly lower electricity. Initially LEDs may cost high, but they save money throughout their lifetime.

B) Does LED light attract insects?

Well, it has nothing to do with the type of lights. Insects tend to get attracted towards cooler shades of light like- green, blue. Setting a ‘warm’ colored light will definitely attract fewer insects. So, LED lights will attract insects just like any other light.

C) Can LEDs keep food fresher?

In a recent research some meat was kept under LED lights and observed for microbe levels. The research showed lower bacteria levels, indicating a potential use of LEDs in food industry. Additionally, LEDs do not emit high Ultraviolet, Infrared rays and heat.

D) Can LEDs be used as therapeutic agents-

LEDs have been in research for years. These are believed to possess potential of healing wounds in astronauts. The research is still in

progress. In some of the developed countries, babies are being given LED light therapy because there is no risk of Infra red or heat radiations with LEDS.
